Dearest Art Monkeys,

We might have become a victim or our own success-- Thanks to all your support, our monthly sessions are now routinely packed. We've been listening to your feedback, and we just might have outgrown our venue. Our goal is to keep Sketchy's laid-back, intimate, and social... so we're looking into some possible solutions. (Some options include holding additional sessions each month at Tatame, or moving to a larger venue.)

Of course, we need your feedback!

1. How do you feel about our current venue, Tatame Lounge? (Size, capacity, atmosphere, location, drink prices, etc)

We've seen lots of neat new people attending over the past few months, and hope everyone's enjoying our little show. We hope to keep you comin' back thirsty for more sake, arts and good times. We've been talking to some of our regulars and our newcomers, and they're doing some pretty amazing things, and we'd like to give some of them a mention cause they're all sorts of awesome.

The God Machine

Drawn and authored by one of our friendliest (and spookiest) art monkeys, Chandra Free's comic is bustin' out into print like a chestburster in a chihuahua. Her art's slick, sexy and possibly encrusted with the salty tears of a million people who looked at it and cried out, "I AM COMPLETE NOW!" to the heavens before spontaneously combusting on the spot.

Big Chris' Gallery

Big Chris does some jaw-droppingly beautiful art. I have snuck up on the guy just to watch him draw stuff at Sketchy's, because it's so exceptionally polished and refined that it just wows me that he can get all that out done in 10-15 minutes. He's also a really helpful dude that snagged us Ms. Mars for August!

Analog Artist Digital World

This is the blog of Thomas Thorspecken, a really neat fellow who recently started attending Sketchys. I had a chance to talk to him during the August session (wherein he won a sweet rave cup -- don't ask) and he told me about his blog. I spent about an hour going through all the pages when I had the chance to look at it. I was transfixed. The sheer level of detail and care in his work is hypnotic and surreal all at the same time. He makes me <3 watercolors.

CG Con 2009

I really can't describe how excited I am about CG Con 2009-- It's a digital media convention built around master classes from industry experts, along with a job fair and daily special presentations. Cools kids from fantastic companies such as ILM, Pixar, Dreamworks, and more will be presenting classes on digital painting, concept art, 3D modeling, texturing, and animation.

Grab your chickens and drop your linens, kiddies, we've got a fantastical show in store for you tonight, April 1st, 8pm at Tatame Lounge!

This event marks off an important event in Dr. Sketchy's Orlando history, as it is also our ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATORY BOX SOCIAL SMASH FEST EXTRAVAGANZA PARTY!

As such, we're giving you TWO lovely models this month. Athena, our very first model makes a triumphant return with longtime Sketchy Orlando friend Miss Amanda to smash your world with their alternate reality, because our anniversary show's theme is STEAMPUNK, art monkeys! So grab your ether-powered cylindrical brass auto transcriber and your sketchpads and get to it tonight!

In addition, we will also have RAFFLES! Because, you know, we like them.
