Dr. Sketchy Feedback
Monday, August 10, 2009
Dearest Art Monkeys,
We might have become a victim or our own success-- Thanks to all your support, our monthly sessions are now routinely packed. We've been listening to your feedback, and we just might have outgrown our venue. Our goal is to keep Sketchy's laid-back, intimate, and social... so we're looking into some possible solutions. (Some options include holding additional sessions each month at Tatame, or moving to a larger venue.)
Of course, we need your feedback!
1. How do you feel about our current venue, Tatame Lounge? (Size, capacity, atmosphere, location, drink prices, etc)
2. Would you like to see us in a bigger venue? (If yes, have any suggestions?)
3. How many sessions should we hold a month?
4. What days of the week should we hold sessions?
5. Anything else you'd like to suggest or comment on? We're listening.

I love the current venue but I can see how it might get too small very soon. It would be nice to have Sketchy's twice a month. I will be showing up as often as possible regardless. Thanks for putting it on at all.
It would be good to have another somewhere between WP and Ocoee (Egypt) where some of us westerners live. Love it but its a good 40 minutes plus one way. Not a complaint, just an observation.
One thought is to have one at Tatame in Winter Park, and second one on another side of town. I live in Metrowest, so I wouldn't mind hosting it closer too. :)
Thanks! Keep the feedback coming. :D
Maybe Stardust? They have that 2nd eating area opened up now, tables/chairs and even a lil' stage area.
I'm sure they would love to host it.
Also a whole host of options from drinking to eating as well!
I am all for having it more than once a month! Even though its a little bit of a drive for me too, i kind of like it being at Tatame though. To me, the atmosphere is perfect there.
I dig the sessions so much I drive all the way from St. Cloud to attend. Tatame is great but a bit dark at times. I would like a little more room to move around to draw as well.
I would be more than happy to attend twice or even 3 times a month. Do 1 on a Monday , the Wednesday (normal)session and a weekend night.
Maybe even do a gallery show of artists works every month or 6 months to see how the artists take their sketches to the next level.
Also I'm not sure about the model situation but if we could have a traditional night where they wear pure "Burleque" costumes, then the other nights we have sessions they can wear the comic or whatever they create would be great. That's just me nit picking though.
Thanks much,
Ray
That's about all of my suggestions for now. Thanks for asking us what we think
I thought Stardust Coffee and Video was a great idea for a second venue. I bet if you kept searching for venues you could have a different place host every month. The ballet has a huge building downtown with open studio spaces, Rollins might help out or even consider taking the event to the streets, Lake Eola or any of the parks as things cool off.
Twice a month at least would be nice. I second the suggestion of Stardust, or anyplace near downtown Orlando since that's about as central as it gets.
